UCF, Gus Malzahn stunned in last second walk off loss to Louisville

Gus Malzahn’s tenure at UCF has gotten off to a very interesting start. On one hand, he’s experienced everything there is experience in just 3 games — a thrilling win against Boise State, an expected victory against Bethune Cookman and, now, a heartbreaking 42-35 loss to Louisville.

On Friday night, Louisville stunned UCF and Malzahn on a game the Knights should have won. Tied 35-35 in the fourth quarter with just 35 seconds remaining, UCF tipped a Malik Cunningham pass and intercepted it — setting up a potential game-winning opportunity at the Cardinals 40-yard-line.

Then, UCF quarterback Dillon Gabriel did the unthinkable — he threw a deflected pick-6 to end the game with 6 seconds left. Seriously.

It doesn’t get more heartbreaking than that for the Knights, and what a thrilling way to beat undefeated UCF for Louisville. The Cardinals improve to 2-1 on the season, while UCF falls to 2-1.
