Washington State 'willing to play any opponent' as it searches for Sun Bowl replacement
Jake Dickert put out the call far and wide on social media. The Washington State Cougars are willing to play anyone following the news that Miami withdrew from the Sun Bowl after the Cougars already arrived in El Paso earlier Sunday.
Dickert retweeted a statement from the team Twitter account, which said that the team is working with the Pac-12 and Sun Bowl Association to find a new opponent. Brett McMurphy of The Action Network reported that it won’t be Memphis, SMU or East Carolina, the 3 teams impacted by canceled bowls. Each program said their seasons were done after their respective bowls were recently canceled.
Our team is in El Paso and willing to play any opponent. Our team just wants one more chance to finish this storied 2021 season. #GoCougs https://t.co/uzr2fIzPeL

The local team is also likely out. UTEP head coach Dana Dimel said it’s not likely that his team could be a Sun Bowl replacement, as a second bowl game, this time at home, Chris Vannini of The Athletic reported.
