Florida State has had to clarify its hydration practices already this season, and now the Seminoles are explaining how their alignment on one viral play was how they planned after all.

TE Tre McKitty insisted to reporters that he did nothing wrong on the play, which came in the second quarter against Louisiana-Monroe. QB James Blackman called him in motion, and the Seminoles gained 10 yards on a run by RB Cam Akers.

“Yeah, I’ve got a million messages about that,” he said, according to Tashan Reed of The Athletic. “There was nothing wrong with me. I didn’t line up the wrong way on accident.”

His explanation may not change the minds of the loads of college football fans who saw the viral image over the weekend.
