Buzz Williams spoke about the upcoming 2023 basketball season on Saturday. He didn’t shy away from his team’s goals for the season.

Since joining the SEC in 2012, Texas A&M does not have a SEC Tournament title in men’s basketball. The Aggies were regular season champs in 2016, however.

After reaching the SEC Championship in back-to-back seasons, Williams has his sights set on an SEC Tournament title.

“15-3 is hard to be better than. 0-1 in the NCAA Tournament, you can be better than that,” said Williams. “Getting to the SEC Championship Game two years in a row, let’s get there again, but let’s win it this time.”

Texas A&M came up short against Alabama in the SEC Tournament final last season. The Aggies lost to the Crimson Tide 82-63.

Williams led his team to an appearance in the NCAA Tournament against Penn State. Texas A&M lost to the Nittany Lions in the first round by a score of 76-59.

It would be a special feat if Williams can reach the SEC Tournament final in three-straight seasons. It would be even better if he could win it.

The 2023 campaign for Texas A&M starts on Nov. 7 against Texas A&M-Commerce.

Can the Aggies finally bring home an SEC title under Williams in 2023?
