Texas A&M sophomore Cullen Gillaspia has had a busy week. The former walk-on linebacker earned a scholarship on Sunday and was awarded the 12th man jersey on Friday, which is reserved for a former walk-on who shows leadership and dedication.

Gillaspia shared his thoughts on Twitter Friday, calling the past week the best of his life.

A&M’s 12th man tradition began in 1922 when E. King Gill came down from the student section to suit up against Centre College. Gill never entered the game, but displayed a willingness to join the Aggies on the field.

A&M will host No. 16 UCLA on Saturday at Kyle Field in a nationally televised game on CBS.
