De’Von Achane updated fans and media on the correct pronunciation of his name on Monday.
Achane’s name is pronounced “A-Chan,” according to the former Texas A&M running back. As ESPN’s Adam Schefter noted, his name was previously listed in the team’s pronunciation guide as “A-Chain.”
A PSA: After his four touchdown performance Sunday, Dolphins’ rookie RB Devon Achane informed the team that, moving forward, he would like his name to be pronounced De-Von A-Chan.
Not A-Chain, as it currently is listed in the team’s media guide. A-Chan.

The confusion over Achane’s pronunciation dates back to at least his time in College Station. Texas A&M’s 2022 media guide lists the proper pronunciation for his last name as “A-Chain.”
Achane is coming off of the biggest game of his young NFL career. He scored 4 touchdowns in the Dolphins’ 70-20 win over the Denver Broncos on Sunday.
He rushed the ball 18 times for 203 yards and a couple scores on the ground. He also caught 4 passes for 30 yards and 2 more touchdowns through the air.
Achane is in his rookie season. Last year at Texas A&M, he rushed for 1,102 yards and 8 touchdowns. He scored 26 total touchdowns across 3 collegiate seasons with the Aggies.
He was the 84th overall pick by Miami in the 2023 NFL Draft.
The Dolphins will be in action again on Sunday against the Buffalo Bills.
