When the 2019 recruiting cycle comes to an end, there likely won’t be a better defensive backfield signed than the one by Jimbo Fisher and this Texas A&M coaching staff lands in College Station.

The Aggies’ claim to having the nation’s best defensive backfield was already strong but was bolstered even further following the Fourth of July commitment of Richmond, Texas native Erick Young. The four-star cornerback is rated as the nation’s No. 12 cornerback and the No. 105 overall prospect by 247Sports Composite Rankings. Young picked the Aggies over Oklahoma, Ohio State and USC.

With Young now in the fold, Texas A&M now holds commitments from the No. 2 safety (five-star Brian Williams), the No. 8 safety (four-star Demani Richardson), the No. 12 cornerback and the No. 26 cornerback (four-star Bobby Wolfe) prospects in the nation for the 2019 recruiting cycle. No other school in the nation can legitimately even come close to that level of DB star power when it comes to the latest recruiting cycle.

Young announced his commitment with the following video:

Young is coming off an impressive performance at The Opening Finals in Arlington, where he competed against many of the best prospects in the nation during the multi-day event. Following the conclusion of the all-star high school showcase, Young was selected to 247Sports’ “Dream Team” of prospects from the event and was named Defensive MVP of the camp.

His pledge gives the Aggies 21 total commitments for the 2019 recruiting cycle and helps the program remain entrenched as the nation’s No. 2 recruiting class. Only Alabama has a higher ranked recruiting class at this time. Of A&M’s 21 commits, 10 are rated as either a four- or five-star recruit at this time.
