A year after being traded away for draft picks, Ryan Tannehill is reportedly getting rewarded with a big new contract.

The Tennessee Titans announced Sunday that they have re-signed Tannehill to a multi-year deal. The former Texas A&M quarterback is going to be paid well for at least the next two years, according to ESPN’s Jeff Darlington. Tannehill has signed a deal that is reportedly for four years, totaling $118 million. With NFL contracts, though, the “guaranteed” amount is always the key component of the deal. According to Darlington, Tannehill is guaranteed to take home $62 million by signing the new contract. He is fully guaranteed $17.5 million in 2020 and $24.5 million in 2021. The guaranteed amount reaches $62 million when you include a $20 million signing bonus.

Tannehill spent the first seven seasons of his NFL career in Miami before the Dolphins traded him to Tennessee last year in a deal for draft picks. Tannehill topped the NFL with a 117.5 rating in 2019, leading the Titans to a pair of playoff wins – at New England and Baltimore – and into the AFC Championship Game. During the regular season, Tannehill threw for 2,742 yards, 22 touchdowns and six interceptions. After replacing starter Marcus Mariota in Week 7, Tannehill led the Titans to a 9-4 mark, including playoffs. He set the franchise mark for completion percentage (70.3), a mark that was third-best in the NFL for 2019. Tannehill was named Comeback Player of the Year by the Associated Press following the 2019 season.
