Former Texas A&M Myles Garrett 'can't be a savior' for the Cleveland Browns
After he was selected by the Cleveland Browns with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, former Texas A&M DE Myles Garrett will face a lot of lofty expectations this fall.
However, as he prepares for his first NFL season, the ex-Aggie cautioned Browns fans from expecting too much from him.
Garrett told NFL.com that he’s just one piece to the puzzle, and the Browns need to be better across the board in order to improve from last year’s terrible 1-15 record:
“It takes a culmination of all these guys coming together and just having the attitude that we’re not going to lose. And that’s what we’re going to do. I can’t be a savior,” Garrett said. “But I can be the best I can be. I can give it my all and make plays and dominate my side of the field, but it takes all 11 guys with a certain thought process that we’re going to go out there and we’re going to win.”
Though Garrett is right about it taking all 11 defenders working together to make things work, he’ll still be under extra scrutiny simply because of his draft status.
If he doesn’t make an impact this fall, he’ll likely draw more criticism than the rest of his teammates.
