Greg McElroy addressed an ongoing issue related to Texas’ move to the SEC: Where will the first game be played when the Longhorns meet the Aggies as SEC members?

But the ESPN analyst couldn’t figure why the Aggies are digging in about having the first game at Kyle Field. And he pointed out that the previous meeting in 2011 was at Kyle Field.

“So doesn’t that mean that the next iteration of Texas against Texas A&M should be played in Austin? That’s the way I see it,” McElroy said. “At the same time, ‘Well, you just brought in our big rival to the conference so you should get us a make good, and you should play the game in our backyard.’ I don’t agree with that.”

McElroy added that the Aggies have proven that they can stand independent of the Longhorns since they joined the SEC, a departure from what they could do in the Big 12.

“Stop playing this inferiority complex,” he said. “Stop. Here’s what I would say if I were Texas A&M: I would say anytime, any place, anywhere we’ll play the Longhorns, we’re just glad to have the rivalry back. And we’ll stomp on them when we get our opportunity.”

McElroy then recalled how Bobby Bowden built a power at Florida State. He was willing to play any opponent at any time and anywhere.
