Texas A&M will take on Appalachian State at home on Saturday, and Aggies coach Jimbo Fisher knows the Mountaineers are a dangerous opponent.

Appalachian State nearly beat North Carolina this past Saturday.

The Mountaineers failed on a pair of 2-point conversion attempts in the fourth quarter that would have given them the lead or likely sent the game to overtime.

Instead, they fell 63-61 in what was arguably the day’s most exciting game.

In all, Appalachian State scored six TDs and 40 points in the 4th quarter against the Tar Heels, which certainly got Fisher’s attention.

“That hasn’t been done, has it?,” said Fisher when asked about the Mountaineers’ fourth-quarter outburst. “Wasn’t that a record? … Very explosive. As much as we get caught up in what they did, how they did it and why they did it — maturity, fifth and sixth-year guys… that’s where their culture has really helped them.”

Added Fisher: “I look at them as a true Power 5 team and a team that can compete in any conference in America.”

No. 6 Texas A&M and Appalachian State will kick off at 3:30 p.m. (ET) on Saturday and the game will be televised by ESPN2.
