Jimbo Fisher is not in a position to name his starting quarterback, and the Texas A&M coach is not providing any sort of timeline for a reveal.

“We have a good idea of what’s going on and how it’s going. We’ve watched practice every day and we’ll announce it when we’re ready,” Fisher said Wednesday after multiple questions about the starting quarterback.

Max Johnson, Haynes King and Conner Weigman are in the hunt for the job, and Fisher allowed what he sees as the deciding factor for who wins the QB race: “Consistency and who gives us the best chance to win.”

Fisher likes that he has depth and multiple players who can contribute, especially at that position. He’s still learning how he might call a game with each of them at the controls.

Fisher has consistently stayed measured about describing the 3 quarterbacks, and added, “It makes you more confident in the scenarios that go on. You’re learning each guy. I think all three are growing.”
