Jimbo Fisher discusses Conner Weigman’s positives at the helm of the Aggies offense

Conner Weigman did not start the season for Texas A&M last season. He also was not the flashiest quarterback in the SEC, but according to head coach Jimbo Fisher Wednesday, he was making the right decisions.
That’s ultimately what has Weigman as Texas A&M’s guy heading into fall camp, less than a month out from the start of the regular season. And with offensive coordinator Bobby Petrino coming in, the Aggies’ offensive problems should (emphasis on should) start to alleviate heading into the new season.
Fisher not only saw the good decisions Weigman made at the end of last season, he also saw that the rising sophomore looked strong coming out of spring training. Now, he’s hoping that will translate to fall camp and into September.
It helps that the Aggies have strong weapons such as Ainias Smith and Evan Stewart to make things easier:
Jimbo Fisher on QB Conner Weigman: “He won’t be hesitant to throw that ball in some areas where you can make plays because he’s got some guys who can go and get it.”
“He came out of spring well, so hopefully, he’ll go into the fall well.”

And as for the end of last season, Weigman really was pretty good at making the right decisions at times. He didn’t exactly light up the stat sheet but did finish with a split of 8 touchdowns and 0 interceptions.
Jimbo Fisher on QB Conner Weigman: “He had eight touchdowns with no interceptions. He was making plays when he was making the right decisions, which was very good. At the end of the day, quarterbacking is about making the right decisions and accuracy.”
