At one time, Jimbo Fisher tried recruiting quarterback Bo Nix to come to Florida State. This Saturday, Fisher, now in his second season at Texas A&M, will coach against Nix and the Auburn Tigers.

Fisher explained Wednesday during his press conference why Nix was such an attractive high school prospect, citing his “great bloodlines.” Nix’s grandfather was a coach, and his father played quarterback as well.

One reporter asked Fisher if he agrees with Nix’s father, Patrick, who said he is the best quarterback in the family. Fisher said Patrick was a a great player but also added “it’s just a matter of time” before Bo passes him.

While Nix’s overall numbers aren’t great to start the year, for a freshman, they also are very respectable. He has completed 52.4 percent of his passes for 545 yards with four touchdowns and two interceptions. Nix hasn’t thrown a pick since Week 1 against Oregon.

Fisher’s press conference Wednesday was cut short, but here’s what else he said:

  • On his OL versus Auburn DL: It’s huge… you can draw up anything you want but you have to block the guys up front. Their front is as good as any in America.
