Texas A&M led Miami 17-7 at one point Saturday evening against Miami. They then were outscored 41-16 and lost, 48-33 to drop to 1-1 on the season.

That’s not ideal for any team, but especially not for Texas A&M, which as FOX Sports analyst Joel Klatt pointed out Monday, is one of the most “talented” teams in the country.

That’s based off the 247Sports Team Talent composite, which places the Aggies behind only Alabama, Georgia and Ohio State. All those teams are in the AP Top 25 this week except A&M.

That’s why Klatt called Saturday’s woeful 2nd half performance against the Hurricanes a “Terrible loss” on Monday. Not because of Miami itself, but because of the situation the Aggies were in.

He goes more into detail below:

Texas A&M is a headscratcher once again under Jimbo Fisher. The Aggies have seen competent QB play from Conner Weigman and have a strong set of playmakers on offense to win games. But defensively, breakdowns like Saturday won’t just lose you games to Miami. It’ll lose games to much worse teams that the Hurricanes.

Texas A&M certainly has a lot of issues to resolve ahead of SEC play. They get one more non-conference matchup before their SEC opener against Auburn, facing off against UL Monroe Saturday at 4 p.m. ET on SEC Network.
