Kenyon Green, an elite member of the Maroon Goons offensive line at Texas A&M, has signed his rookie contract with the Houston Texans.

Green agreed to a four-year, fully guaranteed $15.9 million contract with a fifth-year club option, according to a league source, Sports Talk 790 reported. Green was picked No. 15 overall in the first round.

“My blood, sweat, and tears have been here 21 years almost,” Green said after being drafted. “I mean, it’s really nothing else to say. I’m here. I’m ready to go, so, you know, whatever that takes, whatever we need to do to do that, I’m willing and ready.”

Texans coach Lovie Smith has made it a priority to bring in players from the state of Texas.

A local product, Green is from An Atascocita High School in Humble, Texas, and was a 5-star recruit on the 247Sports Composite in the class of 2019. He chose Texas A&M over 22 other scholarship offers.

In Green, who is listed at 6-foot-4 and 323 pounds, the Texans are getting a versatile lineman who started 2 games at right tackle, 1 at left tackle, 2 at right guard, and 7 at left guard last season for the Aggies.

Green was a 3-year standout for Jimbo Fisher’s program. He made the SEC’s All-Freshman Team in 2019. Green received All-America First Team recognition in 2020 (Sporting News, FWAA) and ‘21 (AP, Sporting News). He was also named All-SEC First Team for 2021.
