When you make the type of money that SEC coaches make, it’s understandable when they face criticism for failing to live up to expectations. Criticism is one thing but what Texas A&M coach Kevin Sumlin and his family had to endure this week is something completely different.

An angry and disturbed “fan” sent Sumlin a hateful, racist letter last week that was shared on social media by his wife. Following the attention that letter has received, everyone from the Texas A&M administration to the SEC commissioner have expressed their dissatisfaction that a person would take it upon themselves to send a letter like that to Sumlin.

Following A&M’s 24-14 win over Nicholls, Sumlin was asked about the letter.

Credit Sumlin for handling the situation better than many would considering the nation of the disturbing letter sent his way.
