It was a very disappointing night for Kevin Sumlin and Texas A&M Saturday.
The Mississippi State Bulldogs beat the Aggies 35-14 at Kyle Field to drop TAMU to 5-3 overall and 3-2 in the SEC.
The majority of Texas A&M’s struggles under Sumlin have come in November, but we’re not even in November yet. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for this team over the next month.
Here’s what Sumlin said after the loss to MSU:
Sumlin: I thought we were ready to go. We started with energy. Execution was not where it needed to be offensively.

Sumlin: Overthrow and drop after starting fast with turnover and good field position [hurt]. We didn't continue after [hot] start.
— TexAgs (@TexAgs) October 29, 2017
Sumlin: 22 plays in the first half [offensively]. A lot of plays execution-wise that left a lot to be desired.
— TexAgs (@TexAgs) October 29, 2017
Sumlin: [Mond] got hit up high and I didn't like the way he looked when he got up. So Nick [Starkel] got in and made some plays.

Sumlin said he didn't like the way Mond "looked" when he got hit. Said Starkel's performance doesn't "change anything on depth chart."

Sumlin: [Starkel] playing doesn't change anything from a depth standpoint at QB. We got him out because of personal foul penalty.
— TexAgs (@TexAgs) October 29, 2017
Sumlin: Tonight was very frustrating. We had more drops. The interceptions were on drops. We dropped a TD. We have to make plays.
— TexAgs (@TexAgs) October 29, 2017
Sumlin: When [Fitzgerald] has been successful, they have been successful. It's one thing to try to contain him but he threw [well] too.
— TexAgs (@TexAgs) October 29, 2017
Sumlin: Keaton [Sutherland] practiced a couple of days but it took him some time to get going today. We need more consistency out of OL.
