Texas A&M already had one big challenge when it faced No. 1 Clemson earlier this season. Now, the Aggies are preparing to take on another top-10 team.

On Saturday, No. 17 Texas A&M hosts No. 8 Auburn in its SEC opener. The Aggies have a chance to open their conference schedule with a huge win and move up the AP Top 25 rankings. But in order to do that, they’ll likely have to stop the Tigers’ impressive defensive front.

SEC Network analyst Marcus Spears, who is in College Station for the game with the SEC Nation crew, told TexAgs.com on Friday that he believes Texas A&M’s offensive line is capable of a strong showing against Auburn.

“It was some touch-and-go things against Clemson that I saw when I watched the tape,” Spears said. “But what I will say is, two things they have working for them: That was early in the season and you can correct the mistakes that they made. It wasn’t a physical thing. That’s when coaches get nervous, it’s when you say, ‘We just don’t have the guys that are physical enough to block and move people.’

“Schematically, I’m sure they’ll do some things different, but also it goes back into what I was saying about [quarterback] Kellen [Mond] helping those guys, getting moving, making sure that he’s getting defenders in space, confusing them with what he’s doing within the pocket and when he’s going downfield. But I think they are up for the challenge. They’re big, they’re physical.”

Texas A&M lost to Clemson, 24-10, so it will be looking for its best win of the early season when it plays Auburn.

The Aggies and Tigers are set to kick off on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET on CBS.
