The Manny Diaz era didn’t last a single game at Temple, as the former Miami DC left the Owls to take the Hurricanes’ head coaching position when Mark Richt retired.

Now, the Owls are on the hunt for another new head coach to replace Geoff Collins, who got the Georgia Tech job this offseason.

Per a report from College Football Talk, Temple was considering, among others, Texas A&M DC Mike Elko prior to hiring Diaz:

Before hiring Diaz, Temple had evaluated a handful of other potential options for the job including Greg Schiano of Ohio State, Don Brown of Michigan and Mike Elko of Texas A&M. None of those options have moved on to other positions since Temple went through this process before, but it is unknown if those options are still being considered by Temple at this time. And if those are targets for the Owls this time around, what interest would any of those candidates potentially have in the job after being passed over in favor of Diaz previously?

Elko did some great work with the Aggies this year, so it’s no surprise he’s being mentioned.

The Owls want to move soon with this hire, so it’ll be interesting to see who gets interviewed and who lands the job this time around.
