Texas A&M made headlines on Sunday morning when the program announced that Jimbo Fisher was no longer the head coach of the Aggies program. The firing came just hours after a 51-10 win against Mississippi State to move to 6-4 and become bowl eligible.

Many people had wondered what Texas A&M would do as they would owe Fisher $75 million in buyout money if they fired him, but athletic director Ross Bjork said Sunday that it is simply time to move onward.

When asked about the future of Texas A&M football, he said something similar:

“I have been here for five years,” Bjork said. “Aggieland is special. The ingredients for a championship are here. Aggies want to do it the right way and deserve excellence in everything we do. Onward we go.”

Fisher was 45-25 in his 6 years at Texas A&M, but according to Bjork, the feeling was the program was kind of stuck and needed to go in a different direction.

There is no timetable for the Aggies to decide on a new coach, but current associate head coach Elijah Robinson will be the interim coach moving forward.

The final 2 regular season games for Texas A&M are at home against Abilene Christian and at LSU the following week.
