The Texas A&M Aggies are undergoing a big transition this offseason as Jimbo Fisher takes over for Kevin Sumlin as the team’s head coach.

However, SEC Network analyst Marcus Spears thinks the transition is going smoothly. Spears spent some time in College Station recently and came away as a believer.

Per 247Sports, Spears thinks the Aggie players are responding to Fisher’s style of coaching:

“The message — I forgot how Jimbo is at practice,” he said. “I ain’t lying, sometimes I look at him getting on some players and I was like, ‘Man, these dude’s gonna leave off this field. They’re gonna leave. They don’t want to hear all this.’ But, they seem to be responding well. It’s fun.”

Spears added that he thinks the Aggies can compete in every single one of their games this fall:

“It was fun to be around those guys,” he said. “They seem like they have a new energy and a coach with Jimbo’s kind of skins in the game can do that. So, it’s a lot of optimism, even from the players. Even talking to those guys, they feel like they will be in the right position to at least compete every game and see what happens.

“They may end up being a little better than people think they are…One thing we know about A&M, it hasn’t been a lack of talent. They’ve always had talented teams. It’s just been the falloff, obviously, in November and then trying to end games on a high not late in the third and fourth quarter.”

The Aggies have a tough schedule, with games vs. Clemson and at Alabama in the first four weeks of the season. Fisher will try to prove his worth early, but he has a believer in Spears.
