Texas A&M DE Qualen Cunningham led with his helmet on a Dak Prescott pitch to Josh Robinson, drawing a targeting penalty and an ejection.

The play, which happened in the first quarter on Mississippi State’s first drive, gained 49 yards, and the penalty gave the Bulldogs a first-and-goal from the 5.

Prescott appeared fine after the play despite the hard hit and the helmet-to-helmet contact.

Cunningham, a 6-foot-3, 247-pound true freshman, has 1.5 sacks for the season and was a rotational player at defensive end. The loss isn’t a huge one for Texas A&M, but with State poised to have a time of possession advantage, the Aggies could use bodies along the line of scrimmage to chase around Prescott.

Myles Garrett now has 6.5 sacks on the season after getting to Prescott in the first quarter.
