Fan, media reaction: Texas A&M's offense, led by Kellen Mond, has folks buzzing during win over AU
Last week, Texas A&M’s defense had to step up to defeat LSU. This week, it was the offense against Auburn in the 31-20 win Saturday.
We saw the good Kellen Mond Saturday. The Aggies quarterback finished 18-of-23 for 196 yards and 2 touchdowns. Tight end Jalen Wydermyer was excellent, too. He caught 8 passes for 89 yards and 2 touchdowns.
While Mond and Wydermyer were good, the offensive line was really good, too. Texas A&M could have driven a truck through those running lanes against Auburn’s defense.
Let’s not take anything away from Texas A&M’s defense though. That unit stepped up in the second half and delivered back-to-back 3-and-out possessions that allowed the Aggies to take control of the game.
All of this adds up to the Aggies being in prime position for a Playoff spot but needing some help.
During the Aggies win over Auburn, social media was chattering about Mond and Wydermyer.
On Kellen Mond …

I know it’s early in his career, but i am to go out on a limb and make the prediction that Jalen Wydermyer will go down as the best TE in A&M history. At the very least, he is the best-utilized. Martellus Bennett was so underutilized by Fran. @Wydermyer81 pic.twitter.com/VMUVbkiIWg

Jalen Wydermyer already has four receptions for 42 yards and a TD in the first quarter. The 6-5, 260-pound sophomore tight end is going to get a lot of NFL Draft buzz next year.
