Texas A&M assistant coach Dave Beaty will be heading to Kansas to take over as the Jayhawks’ new head coach, according to a report from Fox Sports’ Bruce Feldman on Friday.

Beaty has been the Aggies wide receivers coach since 2012, and he just finished his second year as the team’s recruiting coordinator. Prior to that, he had two stints at both Rice and Kansas, serving as offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach, after moving up from the high school level. Beaty is considered one of the best recruiters on staff at Texas A&M, so losing him could be a blow to the Aggies’ recent run of top-10 recruiting classes.

Kansas fired head coach Charlie Weis early in the season, turning to former defensive coordinator Clint Bowen as the interim head coach. The Jayhawks went  3-9 this year, including 1-7 under Bowen.

It looks as if the Aggies staff will have quite a bit of turnover this offseason. On top of losing Beaty, defensive coordinator Mark Snyder was fired last week, while offensive coordinator Jake Spavital recently interviewed for the head coaching job at Tulsa. The defensive coordinator position is still open.
