Jimbo Fisher has reportedly found Texas A&M’s new running backs coach. On3 and TexAgs are reporting that Ole Miss running backs coach Marquel Blackwell is leaving to take the same position with the Aggies.

Blackwell, 43, was a USF quarterback from 1999-to-2002 and played professionally until 2006. He got into coaching at the high school level in 2006 and joined his college alma mater’s staff in 2009 in an off-field role. After a brief return to the high school ranks in 2014, Blackwell has been on FBS coaching staffs since 2015.

After spending time as an on-field coach at Toledo (2016-17), West Virginia (2018) and Houston (2019-21), Blackwell landed on staff at Ole Miss in 2022.

Ole Miss freshman running back Quinshon Judkins led the SEC in rushing in 2022 with 274 carries for 1,565 yards (120.38 yards per game) and 16 touchdowns. Fellow Rebel RB Zach Evans was No. 6 in the conference with 144 carries for 936 yards and 9 TDs.

Blackwell replaces Tommie Robinson, who joined Fisher’s staff in 2020 but was not retained after this past season.
