Texas A&M QB Marcel Reed gets the start vs. Florida as Conner Weigman deals with injury
Texas A&M will start Marcel Reed at quarterback on Saturday afternoon in Gainesville.
Head coach Mike Elko confirmed that decision to ESPN’s Katie George shortly before kickoff on Saturday. Reed starts in place of Conner Weigman, who was considered to be a game-time decision for this contest.

Weigman showed up on Texas A&M’s injury report on Thursday with a “questionable” designation. Weigman played last week vs. McNeese State without issue, but seems to have injured his throwing shoulder during practice this week.
Weigman did go through pregame warmups in Gainesville, but was visibly uncomfortable as he attempted to warm up.
Reed played significant snaps last week in Texas A&M’s blowout win over McNeese State. A dual-threat QB, Reed rushed for 43 yards and threw for 71 more (on 11 attempts) against the Cowboys.
Reed did play a little bit in 2023 as well as the Aggies dealt with injury issues at the quarterback position. He completed 21-of-36 passes for 374 yards, 1 touchdown and 1 interception. He also rushed for 45 yards and 1 touchdown on 13 carries.
Texas A&M is looking to get its first road win since the 2021 season.
