Texas A&M received some bad news on the recruiting trail on Friday.

The Aggies lost a commitment from 4-star offensive lineman Coen Echols. He had been committed to Texas A&M since June.

Echols attends Katy High School in Katy, Texas. He’s listed at 6-foot-3, 285 pounds.

He is a significant loss for the Aggies in the class of 2024. Echols is ranked as the No. 285 overall player and the No. 17 interior offensive lineman in the country for this cycle, per 247Sports Composite rankings.

It’s unclear where Echols will end up signing later this year, but he did recently take a trip to Auburn. He also has offers from programs such as Ole Miss, Oregon and LSU.

Texas A&M is down to 17 commits in the class of 2024, including just 3 commitments from offensive linemen. The class currently sits at No. 17 nationally, according to 247Sports Composite rankings.

Head coach Mike Elko and his staff have a lot of work to do if they hope to take a full class of freshmen in the class of 2024. The Early Signing Period begins on Dec. 20.
