As one of the most experienced quarterbacks in the SEC, Texas A&M’s Kellen Mond will have quite the spotlight on him this season. Mond’s experience combined with it being Jimbo Fisher’s third year at Texas A&M have some people thinking the Aggies have the potential for a special season.

One of Mond’s main targets, WR Jhamon Ausbon, explains what’s different this offseason about Mond, and how it transfers to production.

“This offseason for Kellen has been a huge step in his growth…you’re seeing him become a man,” Ausbon told reporters, according to Lia Musgrave of TexAgs.com. “What people saw this offseason was finding out who he was and what he wanted to stand for and it’s having a direct translation onto the field.”

Mond, by the way, is in the top five all-time at A&M in career wins, passing yards, passing touchdowns, completions and attempts. Mond and Johnny Manziel are the only Aggies to throw for over 7,000 yards and rush for 1,000 more in their career.

Experience is something that matters to Ausbon as the Aggies try to build on last year’s 8-5 season.

“The more seniors we have, it seems the more common ground we have on mentality,” he said. “In the past month and a half, I’ve been seeing us come together more than we normally would. Now you’re seeing a bunch of guys who are like-minded.”
