Texas A&M DL Reggie Chevis leaving the program for Houston
Heading into a crucial season for the Aggies on the defensive side of the ball, Texas A&M now finds itself losing out on some senior leadership. While defensive lineman Reggie Chevis intends to finish his college playing career in Texas, his final season will be played in Houston, not College Station. Wednesday evening, the 6-foot-1, 295-pound rising senior announced his intentions to leave Texas A&M for Houston this offseason.
Chevis will be eligible immediately for Houston, as he is set to graduate from Texas A&M this month. The former linebacker transitioned to the defensive line last season and registered a career-best 25 tackles, two tackles-for-loss, and a sack. Chevis also recorded a forced fumble in the Aggies 29-16 win at Auburn last season.
It’s interesting to note Chevis thanked his head coach Kevin Sumlin but not his defensive coordinator John Chavis in his transfer announcement statement.
