Urban Meyer is frequently linked to college football jobs for obvious reasons. The 59-year-old has 3 national championship rings and remains close to the game as an analyst for FOX Sports.

Meyer recently appeared on Ali Peek Wilbur’s podcast “A Peek Inside Florida Gators Football.” She asked Meyer if there is any chance he would come out of retirement amid speculation linking him to the Michigan State and Texas A&M openings.

“No desire,” Meyer responded. “I love what I’m doing. That ship has sailed. I’m very grateful for, I think, 37 years in the game and loved it. No desire.”

It has been more than 4 years since Meyer coached a college football game. Meyer’s CFB record is 187-32, capped with a Rose Bowl win in his Ohio State finale.

Meyer last coached in 2021 with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He was fired before completing his first season amid on- and off-the-field team issues. Jacksonville was 2-11 at the time of Meyer’s firing.

College football fans have been willing to look past Meyer’s struggles with the Jaguars. In recent years, Meyer has been mentioned for numerous high-profile positions, including Texas and Notre Dame.

No matter how many times Meyer says he does not have the desire to coach again, teams are likely to still come calling. We’ll see if Meyer changes his mind about coaching again.
