Walter Nolen left the field on a cart during the Texas A&M game at Tennessee as the star defensive lineman suffered an apparent leg injury with about 6 minutes remaining in the game.

Nolen, a Tennessee native, struggled to get to the cart, and then laid face down for a few moments before the cart left the field. Nolen this season had 22 tackles and 4 sacks, as his great season hit a rough spot late in the game.

He appeared in pain, and didn’t put any weight on his left foot as he struggled to get to the cart. The injury happened on a play in which he jumped over a teammate and landed awkwardly and immediately called for assistance.

Tennessee tacked on a field goal at the end of the drive where Nolen left the field, to make the score 17-13.

Nolen has a history with the Vols, not only because he was a 5-star recruit. But because he was part of an impermissible dead-period visit worth $3,000 to the Tennessee staff.
