Even after losing star DE Myles Garrett to the NFL Draft this offseason, the Texas A&M defense has been surprisingly good this year.

According to coach Kevin Sumlin, that improvement is thanks in large part to interior DL Kingsley Keke and Zaycoven Henderson.

In the video below, Sumlin credits his two interior starters while also praising their backups for being able to play well so the starters get some rest:

“The interior guys have been the difference,” he said. “And I don’t think I’m saying anything that nobody’s seen. Kingsley Keke has gone three weeks of really high-level football. So has Zaycoven Henderson.”

After a Week 1 collapse at UCLA, the Aggies have rebounded nicely, playing great defense more often than not while improving to a 5-2 record.

If the defense can continue to play well, there’s a chance Texas A&M could end the season as the SEC’s third-best team.
