Texas A&M held on for a 24-17 victory at Ole Miss thanks to 14 second-half points.

The Aggies got a 16-for-28 passing performance from Kellen Mond with a touchdown and 2 interceptions. Isaiah Spiller added a rushing TD and 78 rushing yards. A Buddy Johnson scoop-and-score helped swing the momentum with a fumble recovery off of a sack.

Here’s what coach Jimbo Fisher told reporters after the game, via TexAgs:

  • Commend Ole Miss…they played a tough, hard-fought football game. We competed hard but need to learn to play well in all three phases. Getting an SEC win is a crucial thing to do. We kept battling and kept playing.
  • You think you have them stopped on fourth and a bad snap but they get it and run it for a big play. But you have to figure out how to win on your bad day and we did that.
  • We got some inside zone going and popped some runs. Then [on the TD], we got the edge on the counter and Isaiah Spiller got the corner and we were able to get in [the end zone].
  • This hits on our goals to learn to go on the road and persevering. Our kids will not lay down. We don’t always play well, and that’s on us because we have to coach them.
  • [Buddy and Madubuike] have been good [in two SEC wins]. And they have to be. Your best players have to step up and make big plays.
  • We ran the football and had some nice runs. We gave up a couple of protections and I have to see why [on film] but we’re getting better.
