Texas A&M head coach Kevin Sumlin’s thoughts after his Aggies held on for a 35-28 win at home over South Carolina in Week 9.
Via SEC Network:
On QB Kyler Murray: “He was relaxed. The plan was good for him. I though he ran smart like we talked about at halftime. He slid, got down on the ground and extended plays with his legs and made plays when they were there. He didn’t really force anything and that’s a big thing with a young guy. He just kind of let the game come to him, hopefully we can still increase the offense. He’s got a good feel for it, hopefully we’ll get better next week.”
On QB controversy: “I don’t know. He (Murray) played well. He was the starter; he practiced with them all week. It’s all about getting better every week as a team. There’s more than one guy in this game. We’ve got to get better as a team. We got another SEC opponent next week and hopefully if we can get a little better next week.”
On Donovan Wilson: “All he does is make plays. He’s just a guy who is around the ball all the time. It’s just a heck of an effort from him. Our safeties have been playing like crazy. He’s a nickel; he’s everywhere and again he came up big.”
On a close contest: “You don’t like them like that. We’ve got some things to sort out on defense. We got one part fixed hopefully this week. It’s like putting a finger in the dam. We got to play better. They had a bye week. We have to play better defense, get our offense coming along, and be ready to try to get us another win next week.”
A&M coach Kevin Sumlin: It was obvious our guys and qb were more comfortable today with what we were doing. Our tempo was a lot higher.

Sumlin: Kyler is comfortable in that setting. Coaching point was be quick but not in a hurry. He did a great job communicating — Kate Hairopoulos (@khairopoulos) October 31, 2015

Sumlin: Kyler didn’t force things. Once he settled down on QB read stuff, he was effective. Can’t have a lot going on when snap that quick — Kate Hairopoulos (@khairopoulos) October 31, 2015
