Zach Calzada’s best game as Texas A&M’s quarterback came at a great time, as it helped the Aggies upset No. 1 Alabama 41-38 on Saturday night in College Station.

Calzada completed 21 of his 31 passes for 285 yards, 3 touchdowns and 1 interception. He made some big throws down the stretch as part of that, too.

Now, Calzada has picked up a weekly national award, as he was named the National Quarterback of the Week by the Davey O’Brien Award:

Calzada stepped in for Haynes King when King was injured against Colorado in Week 2.

We’ll see if Calzada continues to improve, as the Aggies need him to keep playing well in order to keep winning.
