The search for a head coach at Tennessee was wrapped up Thursday with the announcement that the Vols have agreed to a deal with Alabama DC Jeremy Pruitt for the job.

It certainly was a wild trip arriving to this point, but the Vols are getting a strong defensive mind with a good track record in the SEC. Pruitt served as the DC at Georgia from 2014-15 and DC at Alabama under Nick Saban from 2016-17.

On top of his track record, one of his players is putting a strong stamp of approval on Pruitt as a coach. Alabama LB Mack Wilson took to Twitter and praised Pruitt’s ability calling him “the best coach I’ve ever played for.”

It will be interesting to see how Pruitt’s staff begins to take shape in Knoxville. In the meantime, his hiring should provide a bit of excitement for Vols fans.
