Arion Carter, a 6-foot-1 and 215-pound linebacker out of Smyrna, Tennessee, has announced a commitment to play in the SEC.

Carter, a 4-star recruit, chose Tennessee over Alabama and Ohio State in a ceremony at his school. Carter initially picked up an orange Tennessee hat, but put it down. He then grabbed the other 2 and put them down. Carter finally pulled another Tennessee hat from under the table and put that one on his head.

He is the No. 13 linebacker in the country, and the No. 2 player in the state of Tennessee, according to the 247Sports Composite. He has a reported 41 offers, and was recruited to Tennessee by Brian Jean-Mary and Tim Banks.

Carter is the Vols’ 25th commitment for the 2023 class and their third from a linebacker. The in-state recruit also helped he Vols remain as one of the best classes in the country. They’re ranked No. 9 by the 247Sports Composite, and fourth in the SEC.
