Ben Joyce has the fastest fastball in college baseball. That much we have learned over the course of the Vols’ magical 2022 season.

But, on Sunday against Auburn, he threw a pitch that will go down in baseball history — college and pros.

As you can see below, one of Joyce’s fastballs was recorded at 105.5 mph, which makes it the second-fastest pitch that has ever been recorded in the long history of baseball:

The fastest pitch in baseball history came from the left hand of Aroldis Chapman. He was clocked at 105.8 mph back in 2010.

There’s still plenty of time for Joyce to potentially break that record this season. Does he have a 106 mph heater in him?

The Vols also won the game over Auburn 5-3 and will almost certainly remain the No. 1 team in the country in next week’s polls.
