Former Vanderbilt defensive coordinator left James Franklin’s side at Penn State to take the same position at Tennessee earlier this month.

Butch Jones tabbed Stoops to replace John Jancek, who the Vols parted ways with after three seasons.

On Saturday, Tennessee beat reporter Dustin Dopirak reported the details of Shoop’s agreement with the Vols.

It is a three-year agreement worth $1.15 million per year.

The buyout language is as follows, per the report:

Buyout Clauses: Shoop is responsible for his buyout with Penn State. He does not owe a buyout if he leaves Tennessee for another job. If he is terminated without cause, he is owed the remaining money on his contract, but that can be mitigated if he gets another job.

Shoop could earn bonuses for the Vols making the bowl games, New Year’s Six game or the College Football Playoff, and for winning the SEC championship game.
