Tennessee’s defense is expected to get a bump next season.

Wednesday during the coaches teleconference, interim head coach Brady Hoke announced that injured safety Todd Kelly Jr. intends to return for another season and does not intend on participating in Saturday’s Senior Day. He will seek a medical hardship waiver to gain another year of eligibility.

Kelly suffered a knee injury earlier this season and underwent surgery in early October after only playing in two games, which will allow him to seek another year of eligibility.

Yes, Tennessee will have another head coach, and it’s an immediate bump to get its 2016 leading tackler (71 total) back for another season. Getting a veteran back on defense is always a plus for teams.
