Tennessee needed some juice, and freshman quarterback Brian Maurer is just what Jeremy Pruitt ordered.

Maurer started in place of Jarrett Guarantano Saturday night against Georgia, and on the Vols’ second possession of the game, Maurer delivered with a 73-yard touchdown strike.

Pruitt announced that Maurer would start in place of Guarantano, even though he drew some heavy criticism with his comments.

Marquez Callaway got behind the cornerback, and Maurer threw a perfect strike. What a beautiful touchdown pass by the freshman, and he’ll certainly never forget this one.

Neyland Stadium certainly became much louder.

Georgia leads Tennessee 10-7 in the first quarter.
