Bru McCoy is out for the remainder of the season due to a season-ending fracture-dislocation of his right ankle that he sustained in Tennessee’s 41-20 victory against South Carolina.

However, the senior wide receiver is keeping his spirits up as he embarks on the recovery process. McCoy shared a message on social media recently in which he expressed appreciation to Tennessee fans.

McCoy vows that he’s going to conquer this obstacle.

“I want to thank every single individual who has taken the time to check in on me, share words of encouragement, or simply show their support. It means the world to me,” McCoy said. “I’ll be back, stronger, healthier, and more hungry than ever. Till then Go Damn Vols.”

While saying that McCoy still has a bright future ahead, Josh Heupel expressed frustration about the situation.

“Obviously you hate seeing that, rough injury for him,” Heupel said. “A guy that’s invested so much in him becoming his best. But over his journey here, he has invested in becoming a great leader and has a great impact in our building, in the wide receiver room.”

The 6-foot-3, 220-pound McCoy caught 17 receptions for 217 yards and a touchdown this season. The California native began his career at USC before transferring to Tennessee in 2022. For his college career, McCoy has amassed 90 receptions for 1,120 yards and 7 touchdowns.

Next up for No. 22 Tennessee after the bye week is a home contest against Texas A&M.
