Bru McCoy, one of Tennessee’s top wide receivers, appeared to have suffered a significant injury in Saturday’s contest against South Carolina.

After picking up a first down on an 18-yard reception, McCoy was tackled and stayed on the ground after the play. The site of McCoy’s ankle was not pretty, and he was carted off the field.

There has not been a diagnoses of the injury, but it does seem like McCoy could miss significant time.

McCoy had 2 receptions for 22 yards before the injury and has 196 yards and a touchdown on the season.

McCoy was one of the main pieces of Tennessee’s offense a year ago as the Vols went 11-2 on their way to an Orange Bowl win. The USC transfer had 667 yards and 4 touchdowns on the season, and made one of the biggest catches of the year to set Tennessee up for a game-winning field goal in the Vols’ win over Alabama.

The Vols are looking to get past the Gamecocks without one of their main targets the rest of the way, and they currently lead South Carolina 17-10 with about 5 minutes to play in the first half.
