Tennessee’s injury epidemic has indiscriminately struck nearly every part of coach Butch Jones’ roster.

Fortunately for the Vols, one position group is on the mend.

Seven offensive linemen — including starters Brett Kendrick, Dylan Wiesman and Jashon Robertson — have gone down with injuries at some point this season, forcing Jones to constantly shuffle players within that position group. But the open date this Saturday gives Tennessee an extra week to get healed up before traveling to South Carolina on Oct. 29.

Jones found a slim silver lining in the situation — the reps gained by backups should help the team down the stretch, he said during Wednesday’s SEC coaches teleconference.
