Butch Jones not happy with a cut block that ended DT’s season vs. Georgia
Earlier this week, Tennessee coach Butch Jones announced freshman defensive tackle Shy Tuttle will miss the rest of the season after breaking his leg against Georgia.
In pursuit of a ballcarrier, Tuttle was cut blocked by Brandon Kublanow before falling awkwardly on his leg.
Jones said he submitted video of the play to the SEC office:
A UGA fan tried to tell me how UT played dirty and this is how Shy Tuttle got his injury… (h/t @VolsFanBASE) pic.twitter.com/FRZ1vkgV4V

Not at liberty to discuss the SEC’s response in detail, Jones said this during his weekly press conference:
“I’m not allowed to comment on the responses (from the SEC) but let’s just say you know where I’m going and we’ll just leave it at that,” Jones said. “It was very unfortunate. It took the season of that young man. The young man from Georgia was trying to play hard. I get that. It’s just very unfortunate. Shy Tuttle means so much to our football team. He’s a great young man. We’ll get him back. He’ll be better for it but it’s just real unfortunate.”
Clearly, Jones isn’t happy.
The rivalry game never got out of hand, but was indeed chippy. During the first quarter, Tennessee’s Todd Kelly stomped on the head of Georgia linebacker Chuks Amaechi at the bottom of the pile after a kickoff return.
Later in the game, Tennessee linebacker Jaylen Reeves-Maybin appeared to direct a shot toward the back of Georgia tackle John Theus’ left knee.
