Butch Jones’ new contract has a $4 million buyout should he choose to leave Tennessee before the end of the next two seasons, according to terms released by the university Wednesday. Jones would owe Vols $3 million if he opted to leave between March 1, 2016 and Feb. 28, 2017 and $2 million at anytime after.

The second-year coach signed a two-year extension through the 2020 season with an increase from $2.96 to $3.6 million in annual salary. Jones’ original contract had a buyout of $4 million if he decided to leave before Feb. 28, 2014, $3 million if he left between March 1, 2014 and Feb. 29, 2016 and $2 million for any time after.

Jones’ new contract also has several new incentives. The coach is set to make an extra $500,000 for winning the College Football Playoff championship, $400,000 for appearing in the CFP championship game and $350,000 for appearing in the playoff series.

Jones will also receive $350,000 if the Vols make a “New Year’s Six” bowl game, $200,000 for appearing in the Citrus Bowl or Outback Bowl and $100,000 for appearing in any other bowl game.
