Michigan did reach out to Tennessee’s administration to request approval to speak with Jones, according to Footballscoop.com. However, sources told the website that Jones will not entertain the Michigan job and plans to stay in Knoxville.

Tennessee athletic director Dave Hart told Volquest.com that the program is working on a contract extension and raise for Jones, footballscoop.com reported Tuesday. The second-year coach’s current deal is worth $2.95 million and has four years remaining.

The website also noted that Jones’ assistants will also receive additional compensation, according to Hyams’ report.
