Many fans are upset with the way coach Butch Jones’s Tennessee Volunteers have performed on the field this year, leading to talk of him getting fired either this week or sometime down the road.

All the hot seat talk isn’t just affecting Jones, though — it’s affecting his wife and kids, too.

In a profile piece by ESPN’s Chris Low, Barb Jones explains that, sometimes, it’s even tougher for her and her children, as Butch at least gets to go back to work with his team amid all the negativity:

“The coaches are almost in a bunker,” Barb says. “They go back to work, the next practice and the next game, and figure out how to get better. We go back to life. They do, too, but it’s different. We’re still in grocery stores and still in school. That’s part of it. I understand that and so do the kids, but it doesn’t make it easy.”

Barb added that she and her children do their best to ignore the calls for Butch to get fired, especially since they know the chatter is only going to get louder if the Vols continue to struggle:

“You have to learn to put on blinders and focus on your family,” she said. “We know the noise is only going to get louder.”
