Readers still don’t know what to think about Tennessee. Even some Volunteer-types seem uneasy with what they’ve seen.

Give coach Butch Jones and Co. credit, though. Despite starting off slowly in all five games this season, they’re undefeated, in control of the East and firmly in the Top 10. They’ve closed like Blake in “Glengarry Glen Ross.”

On the other hand, Appalachian State took UT to overtime. Virginia Tech punched the Vols in the mouth early. Ohio hung around for four quarters. Florida sucked the air out of Neyland Stadium for a half. And then this past Saturday, Georgia had the game all but won before failing to knock down a Hail Mary.

I was quite complimentary of Tennessee in the aftermath of that answered prayer in Athens. However, if that 43-yard heave from quarterback Joshua Dobbs had fallen harmlessly to the turf, my tone would have changed dramatically.

Be sure to watch the video above for a response to some of the comments I received about my column.
